The rank of your character is determined by their Chakra stat:

D-Rank: 1,000 - 4,999 Chakra
C-Rank: 5,000 - 9,999 Chakra
B-Rank: 10,000 - 19,999 Chakra
A-Rank: 20,000 - 39,999 Chakra
S-Rank: +40,000 Chakra

Though the requisites for promotion may vary between each village, they are mostly dependent on the character's intangible attributes, career mission record, and one's skill in the shinobi arts.


Genin are the lowest ranked shinobi in every village, the greater majority of this population consisting of shinobi no more than a year or two removed from their village's academy. Assigned to three-man teams, they are assigned D- to C-Rank missions to build cohesiveness and general skills. Only under very specific circumstances are they sent on higher ranked missions.


Chuunin are skilled enough to lead their own three-man team of other shinobi equal to or below their rank. Unlike canon, genin have the opportunity to attain this rank through referral by other chuunin and formal approval by the Kage of their village. Chuunin are sent on D- to B-Rank missions.

Upon reaching the rank of chuunin, shinobi are given flak jackets which contain an additional 12 item slots. The user must have at least 5,000 Chakra to be eligible for chuunin rank.


Tokubetsu Jounin are a step below your full-fledged jounin; these shinobi specialize in a certain category of Ninpou. They are typically employed in situations where their specific expertise is needed, and are rarely sent on solo or important/top-secret missions; Tokubetsu Jounin may only be sent on missions above B-Rank as part of a team.

Statistically, this qualifies as having at least 10,000 in a particular stat category (Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, or Kekkei Genkai). To be eligible for the rank, the user must have at least 15,000 Chakra.


Jounin are highly-skilled shinobi that are not only especially skilled in combat, but have exceptional leadership and critical thinking skills. As the strongest members in their respective villages, they are allotted the full range of missions, from D- to S-Rank, and can expect to be sent on some missions alone.

Upon reaching jounin, the player is given another item pouch with an additional 24 slots for free. The user must have at least 20,000 Chakra to be eligible, and must pass the Jounin Exams.

Eligibility for induction into the Anbu Black Ops opens up at this point as well.


Kage are the most powerful shinobi in their village, and one of the most powerful shinobi, not only in the entire known landscape but in the history of shinobi as well. Responsible for overseeing nearly every facet of their village and maintaining peace and order not only there but the village's position in the shinobi realm altogether, the Kage must be as impressive in character as they are in battle prowess.

Eligibility for the position of Kage opens up after reaching 40,000 Chakra.
