Hurricane Chronicles RPG
If you enjoy the Naruto series, and enjoy creative and exciting community writing, look no further than the Hurricane Chronicles RPG!

With the roleplay just beginning, we'll hoping for some people to temporarily fill important character roles with non-playable-characters alongside their own player-characters. This includes not only one of the five Kage, but those of the minor countries, leaders in each village's ANBU divisions, and even one of the nine tailed beasts!

I started this forum by myself, and attempted to get the roleplay off of the ground with a hastily-assembled group of people. Due to real-life commitments, they were unable to stick around and …

1 Character Stats on Thu Apr 10, 2014 8:52 pm

John Doe - Kumogakure, Chuunin

Chakra: 10,000
Bukijutsu: 2,000
Taijutsu: 1,000
Speed: 3,000
Strength: 4,000

Chakra Control: 8,000
Ninjutsu: 3,000
Genjutsu: 0
Kekkei Genkai: 5,000

Chakra is the primary measure of your character’s overall strength; more specifically, it is the total amount of chakra the user has to use during combat. It is the sum of all subcategories (Bukijutsu, Taijutsu, Speed, and Strength), which individually measure your character’s prowess in these areas of expertise. The Chakra stat also serves as a measure of your character’s rank.

Bukijutsu is a measure of the user’s proficiency with weapons. This includes everything from swords to shuriken and kunai knives to puppetry, though, this does not mean the character is fully proficient with every weapon that comes into their possession. Bukijutsu determines the user’s skill and accuracy with using all weapons.

Taijutsu refers to proficiency in hand-to-hand combat. This applies to the speed and accuracy of strikes, as well as the character’s ability to fight against armed opponents.

Speed determines your character’s speed of movement. This is a measure of both running speed as well as their ability to dodge attacks. However, when pitting a superior Speed stat against an inferior attacking stat, a dodge is not always guaranteed.

Strength refers to the character’s physical strength and overall athletic ability. Superhuman feats of physicality and durability are possible through a higher Strength stat, which also measures the character’s resistance to both physical and emotional assaults.

Strength is also unique in that it is directly tied to both Bukijutsu and Taijutsu; the strength behind each swing of the weapon or a punch or kick is measured by this stat.

Chakra Control is one’s aptitude for controlling chakra. Like Chakra, it is the sum of other subcategories directly linked to it: Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, and Kekkei Genkai. Due to the fact that few bonuses apply to it, Chakra Control grows at a different rate than Chakra. Like Chakra again, the total is split freely between the three subcategories.

The next three stats govern how quickly the user is able to form the required hand seals in each branch, how many hand seals are required to perform techniques, and the overall efficiency of these techniques when cast, including how quickly these techniques move. A more practiced user will be able to perform the same technique as a lesser practiced ninja quicker and with more power.

Ninjutsu is a measure of the user’s overall skill in performing Ninjutsu.

Genjutsu is the art of illusionary techniques used to both mentally and physically assault the opponent.

Kekkei Genkai is an optional stat category; those who do not belong to a clan won’t need this stat. However, this is necessary for those who wish to equip advanced nature transformations, as its techniques are equipped to this category.

Combat
In combat, the user expends Chakra to utilize any techniques they have in their arsenal. Yes, this includes even Bukijutsu and Taijutsu. Each subcategory of stats has a Threshold attached to it which designates how much Chakra worth of techniques the player may use for techniques in the particular category; this number is valued at 150% of each subcategory. For example, a user with a Ninjutsu stat of 1,000 may use up to 1,500 Chakra worth of Ninjutsu techniques before it is cut off.

Remember, Chakra is pulled from the threshold, not the stat itself. Meaning, as the fight progresses, your threshold diminishes, not your stat. A point to remember is that each stat is less a measure of the Chakra and Chakra Control it is made up of and more a measure of the character’s skill in that stat.

For example:

Player A - Iwagakure, Chuunin

Chakra: 10,000
Bukijutsu: 1,000
Taijutsu: 5,000
Speed: 2,500
Strength: 1,500

Chakra Control: 8,000
Ninjutsu: 5,000 (7,500)*
Genjutsu: 2,000
Kekkei Genkai: 1,000

* = Threshold does not need to be included when posting stats.

Player A has 10,000 Chakra and a Ninjutsu stat of 5,000. With the threshold being measured at 150% of the stat, this means that Player A can spend up to 7,500 Chakra (150% of 5,000) on Ninjutsu techniques during a single fight. For each technique used, Chakra is taken from Chakra, of course, as a cost and an equal amount is taken from the threshold of the particular stat in question.

The Shadow Clone technique costs 500 Chakra per clone created. The Shadow Clone technique is tied to the Ninjutsu stat, meaning using it pulls from the Ninjutsu threshold as well. So, upon creating one clone, Player A’s Chakra stat will have diminished to 9,500 (10,000 - 500) and his Ninjutsu threshold will have diminished to 7,000 (7,500 - 500).

Player A - Iwagakure, Chuunin

Chakra: 9,500 (-500)
Bukijutsu: 1,000
Taijutsu: 5,000
Speed: 2,500
Strength: 1,500

Chakra Control: 8,000
Ninjutsu: 5,000 (7,000) - 500
Genjutsu: 2,000
Kekkei Genkai: 1,000

Make sense?

Notice how the Ninjutsu stat remains at its base level. Only Chakra and threshold of the stat used take the hit.

This applies to all subcategories. Yes, this means even Bukijutsu and Taijutsu. Everything has to have a cost.c
